Since I was a little girl, my heart has been sensitive to kids who didn't have a safe and secure home with parents that loved and cared for them well. My first introduction to children like this was when my parents opened our home for a weekend to kids who lived in a large children's home and came to share their stories at our church.
Later, my husband and I had the opportunity to love on and do special events for the children at Real Life Children's Ranch. We helped host a Christmas party for them several years, and also loved spending Friday nights in one of the homes having pizza and playing with the kids. Just last year we were honored and thrilled to become "grandparents" to the sweetest little 2yr old boy when my son and his wife fostered little "Z".
He stole our hearts in minutes, and we spent as much time with him as possible. After about 3 months, he transitioned to an adoptive family. We are so thankful his story has this happy chapter in it and still love to see him when he gets to visit my son's home. He will forever by my first grandchild and a part of our family.
